Chimney Sweep & Repair in Cranberry Township, PA

Gas fireplaces, factory-built wood fireplaces and dryer vents that run to the roof. Most Cranberry homes are newer, and they need a sweep who knows modern venting as well as brick.

Chimneys in Cranberry Township

Newer homes, modern venting

Cranberry Township, in southern Butler County where I-79 meets the Pennsylvania Turnpike, has grown quickly over the past few decades. Most of its housing is in newer subdivisions and townhome communities, built from the 1980s onward.

That changes what's on the roof. Many homes here have no masonry chimney at all. Instead you'll find a factory-built fireplace with a metal flue, a gas fireplace that vents straight through an outside wall, and a high-efficiency furnace venting through plastic pipe.

These systems are simpler in some ways and fussier in others. Gas fireplaces need yearly cleaning and checks to burn cleanly. Wall vents get blocked by nests and shrubs. Factory-built fireplaces must be repaired with parts listed for that exact model. And in townhomes, the dryer often vents a long way to the roof, which is where lint likes to settle.

Which gas fireplace do you have?

Natural ventOpen front or doors, metal vent pipe through the roofVent inspection for blockages, burner and log check

Not sure? Send us a photo of the fireplace and the outside wall behind it when you book.

Townhomes and roof vents

Dryer vents are a big deal here

In many newer homes and townhomes the laundry is upstairs or in the middle of the house, and the vent runs a long way to reach the outside, sometimes straight up to the roof.

  • Clothes take two cycles to dry
  • The dryer or laundry room gets unusually hot
  • A burning or musty smell when the dryer runs
  • The outside flap barely opens, or birds are nesting in the hood

Any of these means the vent is restricted. Lint is flammable, and a clogged vent makes your dryer work harder.

Where a long vent clogs

Roof hood
Lint and bird nests block the flap.
Vertical run
Lint settles on the way up.
Bends
Each one adds resistance and catches lint.
Behind the dryer
A crushed or kinked transition duct.

We clean the full length from dryer to hood, roof vents included, and test airflow before and after.

Our house has a gas fireplace and no chimney. Does it need service?
Yes. Gas fireplaces should be checked every year. Dust and debris build up on the burner and logs, gaskets wear, and the vent outside can get blocked. A clean, well-adjusted unit burns better and is safer.
How often should a townhome dryer vent be cleaned?
Generally once a year, or sooner if drying times get longer. Long runs, roof terminations and households doing a lot of laundry tend to need it more often. We'll suggest a schedule based on what we pull out. Our dryer vent fire safety guide covers the warning signs.
Our HOA handles the roof. Can you still clean our vent or fireplace?
Usually, yes. We work inside your unit and at the vent termination. If the termination is on a shared roof and your HOA requires approval for roof access, check with them first and let us know when you book.
Do you inspect fireplaces before closing on a house in Cranberry?
Yes. A Level 2 inspection covers factory-built and gas systems too, including the flue, firebox and venting. More on our real estate inspections page.
How much does a chimney sweep cost in Cranberry Township?
It depends on the service, the number of flues, the type of fireplace or appliance, and how easy the chimney is to reach. You get the price upfront and in writing before any work begins, and if we find something that needs repair, the estimate is free.
