They showed up inside the window, laid drop cloths through the whole living room, and texted me photos of the flue before they'd even packed up. No soot anywhere.

Our home inspector flagged the chimney two weeks before closing. They got us a Level 2 camera inspection in two days and the report was clear enough for both realtors.

Another company wanted to rebuild the whole chimney. These guys tuckpointed the bad section, replaced the crown, and saved us thousands. Honest people.

Built for Pittsburgh homes

Hills, old brick and hard winters

A lot of the housing here is older brick, and our winters swing above and below freezing again and again. Water gets into mortar, freezes, expands and slowly pushes brick apart. We know what to look for.

  • Freeze-thaw damage

Spalling brick, cracked crowns and open mortar joints, caught before they turn into a rebuild.

  • Older clay-tile flues

Clay liners crack with age. Our camera shows you exactly what's inside.

  • Steep roofs, hillside lots

Our crews are equipped and insured for tall chimneys and tricky access.

  • Furnace and water-heater flues

Gas appliances vent through chimneys too, and a blocked flue is a carbon monoxide risk.

How much does a chimney sweep cost?
It depends on how many flues you have, what you burn and how long it's been since the last sweep. We confirm the price with you in writing before any work starts, so there are no surprises. If we find a problem, the repair estimate is free.
Will it make a mess in my house?
No. We lay drop cloths from the door to the fireplace, wear shoe covers, and run a HEPA vacuum system that keeps soot under negative pressure the whole time.
How often should my chimney be swept?
NFPA 211, the national chimney safety standard, calls for an inspection every year and cleaning as needed. Most wood-burning fireplaces used regularly need a sweep annually. Gas fireplaces still need an annual inspection, since nests, debris and deteriorating liners can cause carbon monoxide problems.
How long does a sweep take?
Usually 45–90 minutes for a standard sweep and Level 1 inspection. Camera inspections and multi-flue chimneys take a little longer. We'll give you an estimate when you book.
I'm buying a house. Do I need a Level 2 inspection?
NFPA 211 calls for a Level 2 inspection on property sale or transfer. A general home inspection usually doesn't look inside the flue. A Level 2 camera inspection shows you its condition before you close.
Do you give free estimates on repairs?
Yes. If we find something during a sweep or inspection, you'll get a written, itemized estimate with photos at no extra charge and no pressure to decide on the spot.
